Legal Considerations for Security in Houses of Worship

CLE Webinar

Friday, February 27, 2026 | 12:00pm ET

In response to a growing risk of threats against houses of worship, many churches are considering hiring security personnel or creating volunteer security teams to monitor for threats and create a safe and secure environment. Some churches may also be considering whether to permit the use of firearms a part of such plans. This webinar will explore some of the legal issues pertaining to this topic including liability risks and an examination of sample state laws governing the use of firearms in houses of worship.
